Londonderry Primary School, Newtownards

Welcome

At Londonderry Primary School we believe in educating every child, encouraging their unique potential and caring for their wellbeing - preparing them for a bright and successful future.  We have a proud and rich tradition of academic excellence, strong pastoral support and an extensive range of extracurricular provision and after school clubs. Our school ethos is “Educating, Encouraging, Caring” and we pride ourselves on the supportive, family atmosphere we have created.

We provide a safe, caring environment and endeavour to instill a love of learning whilst striving to create lifelong learners. Every child will be able to look back on how they have participated in the life of the school and how they made a valuable and valued positive contribution.

For us, positive relationships and excellent communication are of paramount importance as we work closely together with parents and our community towards shared goals. We therefore hope you enjoy looking around our website and if you need any more information please do not hesitate to get in touch.  Together we will shape the future with learning, kindness and care.

P4C had a very special visitor yesterday in the lead up to World Book Day. The illustrator of ‘The owl who was afraid of the dark’, Paul Howard came to visit their classroom. Thank you to Newtownards Library who arranged the visit!
A reminder that our Junior Parkrun event is taking place in Comber this Sunday! We are all super excited! Remember to register your child for the event at www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ We are looking forward to seeing everyone there! 🏃‍♂️
Our Primary 1 pupils had a very special visit from Nurse Clare today. She reminded us how important it is to wear a helmet when riding our bikes and scooters; protecting our heads keeps us safe and ready for more adventures! We also learned how to use a thermometer and had a chance to listen to heartbeats with a stethoscope. The children even got to experience what it feels like to have their arm in a sling; a great way to build understanding and empathy. Lots of future doctors and nurses in the making! 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️Thank you, Nurse Clare 🤗
Lovely to see such fantastic work happening across the school today! Mrs Weir had some special visitors in to see our pupils in action; and what a wonderful job they did! From super independent writing about their pets to focused numeracy work on perimeter. Always a proud moment when pupils gather around the Principal to share their learning and speak so confidently about their work. 🌟🌟🌟
FREE 1 hour online workshops next week. The Changing Lives Initiative: Flourish and Thrive offers free early supports to parents/ carers of children who may be neurodivergent and experience the world in their own unique way, (including those with or without a diagnosis of ADHD/Autism). They offer a range of interventions including workshops, online supports and evidence- based programmes. (am or pm workshop available)
A massive shout out to Campbell Keatings, Tesco Castlebawn Community Champion, for the generous Halloween donations . To date we have raised £480. REMINDER: Tomorrow, Thursday 5th March, World Book Day 📚 “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.”
