Londonderry Primary School, Newtownards

Welcome

At Londonderry Primary School we believe in educating every child, encouraging their unique potential and caring for their wellbeing - preparing them for a bright and successful future.  We have a proud and rich tradition of academic excellence, strong pastoral support and an extensive range of extracurricular provision and after school clubs. Our school ethos is “Educating, Encouraging, Caring” and we pride ourselves on the supportive, family atmosphere we have created.

We provide a safe, caring environment and endeavour to instill a love of learning whilst striving to create lifelong learners. Every child will be able to look back on how they have participated in the life of the school and how they made a valuable and valued positive contribution.

For us, positive relationships and excellent communication are of paramount importance as we work closely together with parents and our community towards shared goals. We therefore hope you enjoy looking around our website and if you need any more information please do not hesitate to get in touch.  Together we will shape the future with learning, kindness and care.

🌟Congratulations to our Stars of the Week 🌟 This week our focus was on various curriculum areas and what a fantastic range of talents we celebrated! 🌟 Foundation Stage children were recognised for their brilliant ICT work, using Just2Easy and enjoying Bee-Bot activities alongside their P7 ICT buddies. 🤸‍♂️ Other pupils shone in gymnastics, showing great effort and skill. 🌟 Children were highlighted for asking super questions, as well as excellent work in arts and crafts, science investigations, ICT coding, and for demonstrating positive behaviours for learning. A wonderful celebration of learning across the school! Well done everyone!
Today’s assembly encouraged children to understand that they are responsible for the choices they make each day. Using the idea of looking in a mirror, pupils learned that the person they see is in charge of their behaviour, words, attitude, thoughts, decisions and ultimately their happiness and success. It was a positive, child-friendly message focused on kindness, effort, respect and making good choices; reminding children that they have the power to shape their future by how they act and treat others every day.
A massive well done to our 5 a side team who made it through the group stages, and all the way to the semi final. ⚽️ A great day, super performances by all. Some great saves and fantastic goals. Thank you to those who came along to support us. The team were beaten in the semi final by the eventual winners, Victoria PS. Congratulations to them. Thanks to tournament sponsor Colin White who was promoting new grip socks by his company W8 Equipment.
🎶 Fun with Nina’s Notes 🎶 P1 had a fantastic first music session with Nina! There were bubbles, instruments, singing and dancing! Most importantly there were lots of smiles and excitement all round. We can’t wait for our next session next month! 💃🏼🕺
🌟Well done to our Stars of the Week! 🌟 The focus this week was the ‘Spirit of Londonderry’ and these children truly shone. They demonstrated outstanding qualities by: ⭐️ Showing kindness and respect. ⭐️ Caring for others. ⭐️ Congratulating and encouraging their peers. ⭐️ Working as a team. ⭐️ Displaying wonderful manners. ⭐️ Being kind and gentle friends. ⭐️ Always giving 100%. They are shining examples of effort, kindness and commitment and should be very proud of themselves.
P3N and P7R both had great fun in their first Forest Schools sessions today. P3 made nests for birds and P7 made shelters, all within our school grounds. We are excited to learn more through forest schools and for all our classes to get involved this year! 🪾🌳🌲🪺
