Londonderry Primary School, Newtownards

Welcome

At Londonderry Primary School we believe in educating every child, encouraging their unique potential and caring for their wellbeing - preparing them for a bright and successful future.  We have a proud and rich tradition of academic excellence, strong pastoral support and an extensive range of extracurricular provision and after school clubs. Our school ethos is “Educating, Encouraging, Caring” and we pride ourselves on the supportive, family atmosphere we have created.

We provide a safe, caring environment and endeavour to instill a love of learning whilst striving to create lifelong learners. Every child will be able to look back on how they have participated in the life of the school and how they made a valuable and valued positive contribution.

For us, positive relationships and excellent communication are of paramount importance as we work closely together with parents and our community towards shared goals. We therefore hope you enjoy looking around our website and if you need any more information please do not hesitate to get in touch.  Together we will shape the future with learning, kindness and care.

From the profits made through the Young Enterprise Business Beginnings programme, P7B chose to donate £75 back into YE as a legacy for delivering next year’s programme. They also voted to donate £75 to Action Deaf Youth. This is a fantastic local charity who supports deaf and hearing-impaired babies, children and young people. This charity is close to P7B’s hearts as they have provided excellent support to our own pupils. Today, our class enjoyed a visit from Julie and Michelle, along with their interpreter Chloe, who told us about what Action Deaf Youth does to support and empower young people and their families, and what the pupils’ donation will be used for. These pupils are definitely living up to the LPS promise of educating, encouraging and caring! Action Deaf Youth Young Enterprise Northern Ireland
2 super teams of P6s took part in the Regent House Rugby Blitz today. What a morning they had! The sun shone and the rugby was skillful! 💪
P2B scooped up their well-earned Coin Wars ice-cream treat and enjoyed every delicious bite! 💙❤️🍦
The football season ended with a match against league winners Victoria, and a friendly against Castle Gardens. Well done to every player who represented the school team this season. Keep practising those skills and good luck with your football development.
Unfortunately, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel Sports Day tomorrow. The weather has not been on our side, and following a risk assessment we feel that the conditions are not safe. The tennis courts are likely to be slippery, creating a health and safety concern, and the grass area for our P1 and P2 pupils is simply too wet for activities to take place safely. At this stage, I am unsure whether we will have another suitable date available before the end of term. However, please be assured that all children will still have the opportunity to take part in Sports Day activities during school time, either within their class or year group, and on a dry day. I appreciate that this news may be disappointing for both children and families, and I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
🎉 Summer Fair Prize Winners – Round One! 🎉 The first of our Summer Fair prize winners have been revealed! 🍬 Congratulations to our P4 winner who was the closest in guessing the number of sweets in the jar. The correct answer was 741, and their impressive guess of 715 was the nearest of all entries. 🖐️ Well done also to our P5 winner of the Wednesday Bundle, who successfully tracked down where ‘Thing’ was hiding! 🎟️ There is still more excitement to come, as Campbell from Tesco will be joining us later today to draw the ballot winners. Good luck to everyone still waiting for the next prize draw! 🤞🏆

They impressed us with their fabulous manners, kindness, and respect towards others. Always ready to lend a helping hand, being a wonderful friend and an excellent role model within our school community. 🤩
