Londonderry Primary School, Newtownards

Welcome

At Londonderry Primary School we believe in educating every child, encouraging their unique potential and caring for their wellbeing - preparing them for a bright and successful future.  We have a proud and rich tradition of academic excellence, strong pastoral support and an extensive range of extracurricular provision and after school clubs. Our school ethos is “Educating, Encouraging, Caring” and we pride ourselves on the supportive, family atmosphere we have created.

We provide a safe, caring environment and endeavour to instill a love of learning whilst striving to create lifelong learners. Every child will be able to look back on how they have participated in the life of the school and how they made a valuable and valued positive contribution.

For us, positive relationships and excellent communication are of paramount importance as we work closely together with parents and our community towards shared goals. We therefore hope you enjoy looking around our website and if you need any more information please do not hesitate to get in touch.  Together we will shape the future with learning, kindness and care.

Our wonderful Primary 1 children have been busy working on our school promise: reciting it, copying key words and talking together about what it really means. This week they focused on our ‘Educating’ section, discussing how they: 📘 try their very best with their schoolwork 😊 make good behaviour choices 🌈 help make others smile They also talked about the importance of never giving up, even when learning feels a little tricky. What shining examples they are and we are so proud of them! 🌟
Every day is a school day in LPS! 😃 Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 staff have received training in a new online motivational maths platform and we’re delighted to say we are now a proud member of the Numbots community! This will be used to support your child’s understanding of number bonds and to help their addition and subtraction skills. More info coming very soon!
Check out the fantastic artistic talent from one of our P3 pupils! He drew inspiration from Belfast artist William Conor’s ‘Town Hall Under Snow’, creating his own sketch of Belfast City Hall and even adding The Odyssey to make it uniquely his own. What an amazing effort: creativity, imagination and local pride all in one brilliant piece of work! ⭐🎨
