P.T.A

Parent Teacher Association

Parent & Teacher Association

In 1987 the school’s P. T. A. was officially formed, although prior to this an association was in existence – though less formal. As a parent with a child at Londonderry you are automatically a member and there is no charge for membership. Parents and teachers form a partnership for the benefit of every child in school. At this school the bond is very strong; a relationship which is the envy of other schools in the area.

Among its aims are the following:

  • To raise funds for the school
  • To foster an interest in the school by serving on the Committee
  • To organise events for pupils’ enjoyment
  • To organise events to enable parents to socialise
  • To organise events to enable parents to socialise

As the years go by more equipment has been provided for the school. Fundraising events include – School Fairs, Discos, Cookery Demonstrations, Fashion Show, Ladies Night, Family Quiz, etc.

Each parent should feel free to take part in any or all the activities and perhaps allow their name to go forward at the Annual General Meeting.

Why Join Our PTA?

Solid Friendships

Londonderry Primary School PTA is great fun. We offer a great way to meet other parents and build solid friendships with like-minded people.

Valuable Perspective

Being on Londonderry Primary School PTA does offer an insight into school life not normally seen by parents. It makes your understanding of school dynamics and mechanics much easier to understand, which in turn will benefit your child.

Feel Good

Helping to organise a successful event that enhances the experience children have at school, feels satisfying. You feel part of something bigger than you and you feel your time makes a difference. Because it does.

Enhance Experience

We want Londonderry Primary School to be brilliant. The experiences that the children have while at school include what’s run (and paid for) by the PTA.

Model Behaviours

There’s a lot of evidence that talks to the fact that when parents are engaged in school life, a child’s attainment is improved. Children love to see their parents in school and being involved shows that you think school is important.

Community Role

Being part of Londonderry Primary School PTA roots you not just in the school community but the wider community too. It sends a message that you care and are invested in the area. Which in turn can open doors and offer opportunities for other community events and groups that otherwise you may not have come across.
